Whether you choose to create, engage with the creative work of others, 或两个, the visual and performing arts are a lens through which to examine what it means to alive. From 绘画, 雕塑, and graphic design to music, 电影, 和戏剧, there are many ways to express — and to experience — the human story.
Choose from six visual and performing arts majors and five minors:
Major or Minor in Art History
By analyzing two- and three-dimensional objects — like 绘画s, 雕塑, and architecture — along with art-making technologies, you’ll gain insight into the ability of the visual arts to reflect and resonate with cultures and events throughout human history.
Major in Media, Culture, and the Arts
Interested in studying media — artwork and forms of mass communication — at the crossroads of theory and practice? In addition to gaining practical experience in three media of your choice, you’ll explore a range of cultural theories and historical approaches to media production.
Major or Minor in Music
Indulge your passion for music through any of four tracks of study: performance, composition and music theory, music history and criticism, and music technology. Then put your knowledge into action through collaborative workshops, 研讨会, and performance ensembles.
Major or Minor in Screen Studies
Dive deep into the history, theory, and aesthetics of 电影, television, and new media. Along with historical and theoretical studies, you’ll step behind the camera as you learn through hands-on experience how to develop a movie from concept to screenplay to premiere.
Major or Minor in Studio Art
Engage your eyes, 心, and hands as you develop your creative skills under the gui跳舞 of our experienced practitioner-faculty. You’ll express your individual perspective on the world through drawing, 绘画, 摄影, 版画, 雕塑, video, and graphic design.
Major or Minor in Theatre Arts
A successful show is the sum of many parts. Choose from intensive study in six areas — acting, 导演, technical theatre, 剧本创作, 跳舞, and dramaturgy — set in the context of a liberal arts education that lets you explore subjects that inform the creative process.
